Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski, (July 24 1922-February 24 2005), was a German Social Democrat politician who is best known for his involvement in negotiating with the Somalian government during the joint Baader-Meinhof Gang and PFLP hijacking of a Lufthansa aircraft in 1977. His successful negotiations allowed German GSG-9 troops to storm the plane in Mogadishu and rescue 90 hostages, three of the hijackers were killed in the process.
