Infiniti

Infiniti Logo

Infiniti is Nissan's luxury brand in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and they will shortly be distributing in Taiwan and Korea. They used to sell rebadged and slightly modified versions of Nissan's more luxurious cars, similar to the relationship between Honda and Acura. The cars that Infiniti sells are all named by one or two capitalized letters followed by two numerical digits based on engine displacement, such as the QX56.

History

The Infiniti brand was introduced in the United States in 1989 along side rival Toyota's Lexus brand using a series of Zen themed advertisements that became known as the "rocks and trees" campaign. The ads featured serene images of pebbles dropping into ponds, or mist shrouded trees, but never showed the cars. The campaign generated a lot of brand awareness and buzz but few sales.
