Jeffrey Shears Ashby (born June 1954) is an American astronaut and a veteran of three space shuttle missions.

Ashby earned degrees in engineering and aviation from the University of Idaho and the University of Tennessee. As a test pilot in the United States Navy, Ashby helped develop the FA-18 aircraft and flew the FA-18 in combat missions as part of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch during and after the Gulf War and as part of Operation Continue Hope in Somalia. He commanded a fighter squadron stationed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln; in 1994, his squadron was designated the top FA-18 squadron in the Navy.

Ashby was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1994; he piloted space shuttle mission STS-93 in 1999 and commanded missions STS-100 in 2001 and STS-112, both assembly missions for the International Space Station.
