Richard III of Normandy was the son of Richard II, who died in 1027, leaving the Duchy of Normandy to his eldest son. Although the eldest son, Richard mysteriously died soon after his father, leaving the duchy to his younger brother Robert I, sixth Duke of Normandy and direct ascendant of the present-day British royal family. Richard reigned for a small amount of months and never really had any effect on the Duchy of Normandy.
