Tidal island

A tidal island is a piece of land that is connected to the mainland by a causeway exposed at low tide and submerged at high tide. The most famous tidal island is Mont Saint Michel in Normandy, France. Other tidal islands include Lindisfarne, Burgh Island and St Michael's Mount in England; Baleshare, the Brough of Birsay in Orkney, Scotland; Lihou in the Channel Islands; Omey Island in Ireland; Bar Island in Maine, U.S.A.; and Bennelong Island in Sydney, Australia.
